With Dona Onete, Fafá de Belém and Gaby Amarantos, Sunset Stage promotes Pará Pop during Rock in Rio

The Sunset Stage will promote artist encounters during Rock in Rio 2019 and, on October 3, carimbó will receive tecnobrega, guitarradas, lambadas and even cumbia music styles. Dona Onete, considered the queen of the carimbó chamegado, is in charge of guiding the public through the rhythms that pulsate in the rivers of Pará State with the show Pará Pop.

Besides her and her band led by Pio Lobato, there will be artists like Fafá de Belém and Gaby Amarantos, Jaloo and his pop-electronic Amazon, and Lucas Estrela, considered an exponent of the guitarrada renovation. “Pará’s music is coming to an indie scene [in other parts of Brazil], but it’s still off the central route. Rock in Rio will open the public’s eyes to this scene”, said Fafá.

Artistic Director of the Sunset Stage of Rock in Rio, Zé Ricardo reinforces the importance of celebrating the musical diversity of Pará in the festival: “I idealized the Pará Pop show with the intention of reinforcing the diversity of Pará music, which reinvents itself all the time. These different generations will have the opportunity to show the best and the new Pará has to present. Sunset has this role of provoking people to look at what is happening in the music, to arouse curiosity”, he says.

Rock in Rio 2019 edition will take place on September 27, 28 and 29, and on October 3, 4, 5 and 6, in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
