Maria Luiza Jobim, daughter of Tom Jobim, is working on her first solo album
In her new album, expected to be released in the last quarter of 2019, Maria Luiza Jobim sings in Portuguese and relives sweet memories of her childhood at her the side of her father, Antônio Carlos Jobim.
Twenty years ago, Maria Luiza Jobim had her debut in the music scene: she participated in the recording session of “Samba de Maria Luiza” with Tom Jobim. Now the youngest child of Tom prepares for the release of her first solo album and announces it by disclosing the music video of the title-song, “Casa branca”.
The first track of the record is a collaborative work with Lucas Vasconcellos, was produced by Alexandre Kassin and evokes Maria Luiza’s experiences in the house where she lived until 11 years old, located in the neighborhood of Jardim Botânico, in Rio de Janeiro.
The new album represents a significant change in the artist’s career. In the EP released in 2016 together with guitar player Lucas de Paiva, her partner in the duo Opala, the lyrics were in English and the style was electro pop. In Maria Luiza’s new album, all lyrics are in Portuguese and the rhythm is closer to that of Brazilian popular music.
