Radio Nova releases podcast about Brasil Music Summit (BMS)
Radio Nova, one of the main channels of world music of France, released the first of a series of programs on Brazilian music. The content is the result of the radio broadcaster Michael Liot coming to Brazil to participate in the Brasil Music Summit (BMS). The event – promoted by Brasil Música & Artes (BM&A) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), through the Brasil Music Exchange (BME) program – took place between February 6 and 9, bringing together content related to sync, music branding and live music with great focus on exporting Brazilian music.
The professional accompanied everything that happened in the 2nd edition of the event and highlighted three shows in the first part of the series of interviews that he did: Karol Conka, Teto Preto and Luedji Luna. In the program he comments the unique features of each of these artists. Michael highlighted that BMS allowed him to be in touch with different aspects and rhythms of new Brazilian music, from afrobeat to electronic.
About Karol Conka, he highlighted that she is a “true Brazilian pop star” and a multiple artist, who takes different activities, as a TV presenter and actress. Luedji Luna deserved the adjective “brilliant”: “coming from a family of musicians from Salvador, Bahia, she sings a more traditional song, close to the African roots. Her music deals with racial prejudice and female empowerment, approached from a spiritual angle”, he commented. And, the Teto Preto collective that was considered “provocative” for its attitude on stage and the mix of Afro-Brazilian percussion and electronic music.
The next edition of BMS will happen on February 10 and 11, 2020 in São Paulo, and the programming continues on February 12 and 13 in Recife as part of Porto Musical.
